The Family
The Family is an imaginary family. I painted this because I was thinking about having my own family. I dream of settling down with a life partner. I am not so sure about kids though! It took a long time to complete working with Amie my art teacher. I am very proud of this work.
The Family, won the Barbara Donovan Art Competition! The Office of Professional Practice, chose my artwork as the winner and will use it in their publications. I am saving the prize money for a treat after COVID.
My Art
Creating art is fun! I love painting. I look at books and go to art exhibitions for inspiration. I use my art to explore my pretend worlds.
I am a visual artist and have been making art for 10 years in community art studios with other artists, and at home.
Making art brings me pleasure and a way to express stories in my head. My work is often about love between friends and family and emotions that may be hard for me to talk about. I also paint fantasy landscapes of places I want to be or travel to and use my art as a vehicle to raise awareness about disability. I explore all kinds of art mediums and media, particularly photography, painting and drawing. I like using bright colours because they make me feel happy.
Current projects I am working on include a zine project with other artist friends, exploring the people we miss in lockdown. Future projects include a group exhibition, which I will curate.
I enjoy the feeling of the paint on my brush and seeing the colours mix. I am looking forward to working face to face with Amie again, post COVID. Watch this page for photos and videos of my new art.
